Hello all,
I got an issue that is inherent with Linux Mint only. While copying large files from one location to another or to an external USB drive, cinnamon lags like hell. I've tried setting vm.dirty_bytes to 15MB and yet the problem seems to be inherent. Ubuntu and other distros won't seem to have an issue. Hence I am sure that this has to do with cinnamon/mint itself. I've used thunar and the same problem exists.
There is no spike in CPU or RAM usage according to the System Monitor
The problem is non-existent now as I have switched to Linux Kernel 5.0. I tried various versions of Linux kernel 5.3 and all had the same issue. But the 5.0 kernels are working perfectly. No Lag or stuttering whatsoever.
Ps. Kernel 5.0 has support until Feb 2020
