Describe the bug
When there are Cinnamon Spices updates available along with other programs updates available, doing as follows may corrupt them.
We all know Spices updates don't need password confirmation but other programs do.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Wait for both the extensions/applets and other programs to have an update
  2. Click on 'Install updates'
  3. When the password confirmation pops up, cancel
  4. Cinnamon extensions and applets are updated even though I have cancelled the updates. The updates don't come to term though, which causes them to be unusable by Cinnamon.

Expected behavior
No program should update if I click on Cancel in the password confirmation window.

Distribution:

  • Linux Mint
  • LMDE
  • Other (please specify)

Software version:

7.0.7

Additional context
Somehow, they are stuck in a limbo of not being in the mintUpdate list, and not being usable by Cinnamon. The work around I've figured is to reinstall them.
The corruption triggers a notification but I forgot to note it.
This is an observation mainly on applets and extensions. I don't know about other types of spices.
