Update manager closes abruptly first time it is run

Describe the bug

Every day the Linux Mint Welcome screen is shown. I click on Update Manager to check for updates. It will close without any error messages after a few seconds, sometimes before Start the install updates process sometimes after.

When starting Update manager again it always work with no further problems

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

After computer is started Linux Mint welcome screen is shown.
Scroll down to Update Manager and click.
A few seconds after, update manager closes with no error messages

Expected behavior

Update Manager to not close and allow updates to be installed

re-booted P.C ran mintupdate from terminal window. The mintupdate window opened briefly and then closed on the terminal, there is a message " Flatpak: done generating updates" but nothing further

Nothing in there. System Reports is clean and Crash Reports only has reports for 3 crashes of nemo-desktop from about a week ago.

Just run mintupdate again from the command line and when it closed it gave the following error
