How do you access Generic methods inside a custom provider?

Is there some way to access generic directly from inside a custom provider?

Back in 18.x I subclassed Generic to accomplish this. 19.x doesn't seem to have that option any more.

I found a way, but feels a little goofy in the new version.

When Generic initializes, it goes through all the provider classes and initializes them which includes my ProfileProvider. It's not until I call gen.add_provider(ProfileProvider, generic=gen) and pass in the instance of Generic that it works. Feels a little wonky but solves the problem.

    gen.add_provider(ProfileProvider, generic=gen)

    def __init__(

        generic: Generic | None = None,
    ) -> None:

        super().__init__(seed=seed, random=random)
        if generic is not None:
            self.gen = generic  # <- how methods access `Generic`

    class Meta:
        name = "profile"
    ...


gen = Generic(Locale.EN, seed=SEED)
gen.add_provider(ProfileProvider, generic=gen)

I would be interested to know what direction you're going; primarily to better prepare for changes in 20.x.

@MarcelWilson Not sure about Generic yet. Right now, I’m testing a new API for schema and related data generation, so I can speak with certainty only about that part for now.

This is how it will work:

sb = SchemaBuilder(Locale.RU, seed=0xFF)

users = sb.schema("users", {
    "id": sb.f("increment"),
    "name": sb.f("full_name"),
    "email": sb.f("email", domains=["dev.io"]),
})

posts = sb.schema("posts", {
    "id": sb.f("increment"),
    "user_id": sb.ref(users).id,
    "status": sb.choice(["draft", "published"]),
})

data = sb.create(users=3, posts=10)

I’ll let you know about upcoming changes in Generic once I understand them myself.
