Description
I've noticed that the Greek localization for LMStudio is not accessible through the application's settings, even though it appears to have been approved and merged in November 2024 #115.
Details
- A merge request for Greek localization was approved and merged in November 2024
- When installed, the application correctly places an EL.pack file in the /locales subdirectory along with other localizations
- However, Greek is not selectable in the application's language settings UI
- When attempting to manually enable Greek by editing the settings.json file to reference the EL.pack file, the localization still doesn't work
Possible Issue
I noticed that in the source code repository, the Greek localization appears to be under a GR directory, while the installed localization file is named EL.pack. This discrepancy might be related to the issue, as "EL" is the official ISO language code for Greek (ISO 639-1), not "GR".
Steps to Reproduce
- Install LMStudio
- Navigate to Settings → Language options
- Note that Greek is not available in the dropdown list
- Check the /locales directory to confirm EL.pack exists
- Attempt to manually set Greek in settings.json (this fails)
Environment
LMStudio version: 0.3.15
OS: Windows 10 Pro
Additional Information
Could the mismatch between "GR" in source code and "EL" in the installed package be causing this issue? According to ISO 639-1 standards, "EL" is the correct language code for Greek.
Please let me know if you need any screenshots or additional information.
I'd be happy to help test any potential fixes.
