Improve UX of connection+product validation at register

Currently, in the register method, the plugin performs a client.ping?to validate that the connection works.
Make sure the input (and filter) plugins works well with the new client level product validation.
Problems may be coming from ping? and the product level check hitting permission errors in different ways.
