Because everyone and their dog uses FontAwesome, and I dislike relying on non-free components. We don't use a ton of FA icons anyway, so I think Feathericons has a substantial enough set and the right vibe for us.
The one snag is that Feathericons doesn't ship an icon webfont, so it's not a simple drop-in replacement, but it shouldn't be too arduous.
