MacOS Finder 🔎

(Only MacOS users, sorry!)
Personally I was for a long time annoyed by the incredibly bad Finder UI ("explorer" on MacOS) and how hard it is to actually walk quickly somewhere.
Some might respond 'use the terminal' and I agree, but sometimes you just happen to end up in the GUI. An old colleague that's unfortunately not among us anymore (Zuzanna) showed me how to do this:

cmd+sh+g

and the address bar will open up for you to paste a path.
P.S. if anyone wants a keybind for Windows it's alt+d.

🔀 HTTPie - A userfriendly http client in the terminal

HTTPie—aitch-tee-tee-pie—is a user-friendly command-line HTTP client for the API era. It comes with JSON support, syntax highlighting, persistent sessions, wget-like downloads, plugins, and more.

I think bumping curl into something simpler is something a lot of us have been wishing for sometimes. This CLI will be your friend in need ;)

🎒 Java 8 through 16 - a categorized summary of all updates

Java has evolved a lot since the early days, and the last years the amount of features and improvements added are very large. A lot of organisations are stuck on Java 8. Since Java 8 there has been 180 JEPs added which aims to improve Java.

I feel like to be able to advocate the update you need to know about them and by knowing about them you realize what you're missing out on!
What's your favourite update?

🔀 Web-scale (MongoDB) - A classic (funny)

A few weeks ago during the bokcirkel we talked about scaling databases and someone remembered this old fantastic youtube-clip. If you want 5m 35s of fun make sure to watch (or rewatch) this!

...is Tipsrundan web-scale?
