Live-search does not clear input after selecting an option

Hello,
I am not sure if this is a desired behavior but after typing into the input for live search and an option is selected, the typed characters remain in the input value. They can be seen when a user returns to the drop-down to choose a different option.

Is there a way that the typed characters can be cleared automatically when a option is selected?

Not desired, but non trivial behavior, we already notice this. but don't think it need be solved.
