[Bug]: Widget border has small gaps if its in an widget island

I have:

• Searched if this issue hasn't been reported yet.
• Verified that I am using the latest version (see Widget settings > About page or top right corner for version 1.1.0 and later), should be the same as https://github.com/luisbocanegra/plasma-panel-colorizer/releases/latest

Install method used:

• Using Plasma's "Add new widget" (KDE Store)
• AUR
• Nix package
• Manually from the latest source code

Describe the bug
There is gaps in between each widgets on the widget island if there is a border

Steps to reproduce

1. Create a panel with the plugin'
2. While customizing the panel, make sure that a widget border is set. A background is not needed, but is preferred
3. Save the changes

Observed Result

Expected Result
Each part if the widget island seemlessly connects

Additional context
Building was done only for the C++ blur plugin
While looking for an issue of the sorts, i did found #64, so it might be related to the texels that the initial bug reported has mentioned

I cannot reproduce this on my machine, can you please save your settings as a preset and share the settings.json file created in $HOME/.config/panel-colorizer/presets/PRESET_NAME/?

Yes, this is definitely related to #64 which I closed after cc72c19 which while not perfect made it barely noticeable for me:

In the image you can see that only the shadow shows gaps, but somehow you managed to get the gaps on the borders again.

Now, in your screenshot there is also a gap after the Digital Clock widget which I am able to reproduce by leaving the Text display on automatic in said widget, and also by changing the font size in Manual mode, really weird.

I think the only solution to these problems might be to make each island a whole rectangle rather than a bunch of connected ones, which would also benefit #300

Alright, here is my exact config, atleast the one that has the bug

it seems though the issue isnt present when using a border with custom size, but then it wouldnt be affected by roundness at all and would behave differently, especially with widget islands

all of this is one island, but it is being treaded as if that doesnt exist

Do you use fractional scaling? I loaded your config and it works as intended.

Do you have a way to switch to the integrated gpu? Just in case this an nvidia thing, which I doubt as I haven't seen it.

Never mind, I am able to reproduce by changing the height of the panel to an odd number

when you said this, i quickly checked by changing the panel height, and it seems to be less jaring in different sizes, odd or even, and visible on others, which shouldnt make sense
for context, when i reported the big, my display scaling was set at 125% (but even that doesnt help) and the panel size was set at 40, with is an even number
also, the shell is rendered using the igpu on my system, so its not an nvidia thing

setting the panel size to 42 on my end only make is visible by a few pixels now, but thats been a thing for a while

Well of course it doesn't make sense because it is a bug, like I said before it probably needs to be rewritten to fill the islands with a single rectangle. Will try to do that in a future version

you can see that is mostly gone now, only a few stray pixels remains now

Border gap should be fixed by v7.1.0 there's still visual artifacts when using fractional border values and there is still a gap in the shadow if horizontalOffset is not 0, I plan fix that by making islands a single rectangle instead of multiple connected ones

Same issue here. I tried adjusting the margins and corner radius of both elements (left and right) individually, specially around the contact zone, but no matter what it still appears.

I'm on Fedora Linux 44, KDE Plasma 6.6.5 and Panel Colorizer v7.2.0. Scaling is set to 125% and I've got also an Nvidia GPU, though Plasma Shell I believe is being rendered on the iGPU

Sorry for the late reply, that looks like a bug with the digital clock widget that I mentioned earlier #510 (comment) if your layout is always like that and don't need visual separation that islands provide, you can disable the widget custom background and apply it to the panel element instead.
