Description
🆘 Call for Urgent Applications: #Frontenddevelopers & #TechTalents for Palumba NYC! 🆘
Deadline: Sept 8 — Help Us, Help New York City!
This fall, I am ready to serve for our project Palumba.org with my SIPA founders and teammates. We’re partnering with Who’s On The Ballot (Columbia SIPA’s long-standing nonpartisan initiative) to launch an innovative civic tech app ahead of the NYC Mayoral Election — in just 50 days.
👏 What we do:
At Palumba NYC, we believe technology can empower young voters and make democracy more accessible. Our app helps users:
- Match with candidates based on values & priorities
 - Access personalized election info — polling locations, deadlines & ballot guides
 - Understand NYC mayoral candidates with neutral, trustworthy data
 - Engage friends & communities to boost voter participation

👍 Why Join Us
Palumba.org & Who’s On The Ballot are partnering to mobilize youth’s vote ahead of the NYC mayoral election. Palumba’s innovative Tinder-style app had nearly 200,000 users and became #1 in the App Store across several European countries, while WOTB is Columbia-SIPA’s renowned nonpartisan voter awareness campaign, directed by Prof. Ester Fuchs.
👩💻 Open Roles
Our team is all set except 2 key roles to kick off!
- Front-end developers: adapting the open-source code of the Palumba app (developed using Flutter, see GitHub here) starting ASAP, ideally with notions of UI/UX design.
 - WordPress and MySQL database pros: that can help us update whosontheballot.org by scraping official voting district data and improving its interface, starting ASAP.

Timeline: Now → Election Day
Application form & more info: https://lnkd.in/d6895wMQ
(Reviewed on a rolling basis, ideally closing the teams on Sept 7-9)
We are honored to receive many interests and support from our faculty and SIPA community. We appreciate your support in reposting this opportunity among your members and community!
