Trouble building on Lua 5.5

I'm working on rebuilding (hundreds of) packages for Arch Linux against Lua 5.5. I'm getting a bit stuck on this one. A few dozen others have been okay, but a lot of stuff depends on this so I can't get too far!

At this point I don't have any convincing information that it is this project and not my Lua or LuaRocks builds that are a problem, but I have been able to use this Lua and LuaRocks for quite o few other packages successfully.

Here is to hoping this triggers an idea for me to look into. It seems the problem is likely not the actual compile phase but something after that. Here is some debugging with a different command across all the Lua versions that shows a bit more output that suggests the gcc commands at least work okay:

Problem traced. This looks like it is going to be a bug in LuaRocks. I'll address it elsewhere.
