Allocate colors to very-different, defining colours

The image below, for example.

The lighter coloured components in the bin are actually a rather vibrant, contrasting yellow. It'd be neat if we had the ability to pull them out as a colour.

ideas:

• a depth map but for contrast. is this just edge detection? ???
• pick the palette excluding some amount of allocated highly-contrasted slots. find the colours that are the furthest distance from most colours. maybe we calculate a score here like with the heuristics so we can factor in count.

Experimenting with an odd-factor. The Odd Factor (a la. "The Random Factor" from D20's Starstruck Odyssey) is specified as a percent of colours, rounded down, that you want to use to select from the bottom N% of the colour count.

I am not sure how we're going to do this. I think, perhaps, we'll start selecting colours when the colour we're loking at, going up from the bottom, occures at least 1% as often as the most frequent but only considering that after we're in the top 90%. So, like.

Example Conditiosn:

• yellow occures 1000 times.
• there are 100 unique colours.

Action

• jump the first 10 colours, we're not going to consider colours from the botom 10% anyway.
• keep looking at colours going up. if a colour occures at least 10 times, put it in the palette.
  at this time, you can ignore those previous rules as the count list is sorted. not you're just ascending and picking as normal with the same tolerance we use for the most common.

Being able to tune those values, the bottom N% and the minimal occurrence would be cute. I want to give all the power to the user, but this also lightly complicates the code. It is worth it and makes it a more powerful tool. We can do it later, though, just get the odd-factor working for now. This might only be possible with Sorsel, not sure how it would work on k-means? to intentionally make low-count clusters? Sorsel is the flagship, anyway, the other algorithms are a courtesy (??)
