Incomplete install

What happened

when installing with kiauh everything says it worked in the install, but when i reboot the pi and go back into kiauh it shows incomplete. The printer will have strange behavior afterwards. If I am in mainsail suddenly it will stop responding and if i refresh it goes to nginx white screen saying no connection or something like that. also at this time ssh drops and i cannot do anything. at klipper screen it shows a log in but if i attempt t log in it goes black and nothing more until i power cycle. another printer also running trixie is fine works perfect but it has crowsnest v 4.2.0-1. what could be causing this?

What did you expect to happen

I expected it to install and run with no issues like it used to.

How to reproduce

fresh install of linux on a brand new drive. install everything with kiauh. have spent hours and hours attempting different things to fix it but it always ends up borked.

to be honest, if you have an installation issue with KIAUH, you should report the issue first on KIAUH...

You have multiple unrelated issues:

go back into kiauh it shows incomplete

This has nothing to do with Crowsnest itself. I didn't test KIAUH and therefore didn't realize that it will show incomplete with v5. Don't worry this is not an actual issue and everything is working fine.
I can assure you that I was already aware of this and I will fix this in KIAUH. I also talked to the maintainer already and I will have to add a few new features for everything, otherwise it would "break" v4 installations.
I need time for that and currently I definitely cannot spare time for a pure "cosmetic" issue.

This sounds like a network issue. If it's really a nginx screen it would mean your local files cannot be found anymore.
If it's just a browser 404 error, it would mean network got dropped.

This would mean that your services are not starting.

All these things have nothing to do with you installing Crowsnest. Your steps of reproducing are not really helpful, as I did multiple installations of Crowsnest v5 in the last months on various different OSs.
The screenshot you have taken is not saying anything, I don't even know how you got this popup.

For me it sounds like you have an unrelated issue just coincidentally happening now.

Make a fresh install with everything except Crowsnest.
Use it for a day or so and then install Crowsnest. If the issues, except the KIAUH one, happen directly after installing Crowsnest, you should tell me your whole system. I currently have the following informations about your system:

I would additionally need the exact OS you are using, the size of your sdcard (or whatever you mean by drive) and what else you got installed, as I currently cannot reproduce this and I didn't here of anyone having such an issue since the release 3 weeks ago.

I recommend to make a full backup of your sdcard of the other installation and just test the v5 installation with cd ~/crowsnest && make upgrade. I bet it will just work fine without problems.

I am having this issue if I install with kiauh or not. The incomplete in kitchen doesn't bother me its the freezing and hanging. Removing crowsnest instantly fixes the problem.. but it used to work so im at a loss. Another printer is working fine with it. I have done exhaustive troubleshooting. Including a fresh install of Linux on a new drive. Same outcome. At this point I am reaching out to see if anyone else has this issue or any tips of where I can fix it.

Can you maybe give more information about your system?
Which Pi, which OS, which camera?
Also check your CPU usage.
You original message was saying something different than your other messages.
Be more specific of what you did next time, then I can get you a corresponding response 😉
