Description
Currently, Manubot HTML outputs don't set the rel=canonical
HTML element. For example, the HTML <head>
for a PeerJ article contains a line like:
<link rel="canonical" href="https://peerj.com/articles/705/">
See this post for more information. The main benefits will be improved SEO and consistency of search results, since Manubot produces many versioned HTML pages. We should also consider the effect this will have on Hypothesis annotations being shared across different URLs for the same manuscript.
