We need MLT logo!

MLT needs a volunteer to make a logo - perhaps something tile-y, square, possibly with columns, possibly similar to the amazing work done by @wayofthefuture for Martin in maplibre/martin#1959

I was thinking maybe the MapLibre logo on a tile sized shape?

Not sure how I feel about putting letters in the logo. That is not our usual font and ML is used as abbreviation of MapLibre.

Please correct me if I am wrong...

• MapLibre Tile pertains more to MapLibre than it does to Martin.
• The floor is the "Tile" in MapLibre Tile.
• One of the most important features of MapLibre is its ability to provide 2.5D extrusions. I believe this showcases the extrusion capability in a clean way and accentuates a desirable sales "pitch" (pun intended).
• The "L" should possibly be taller to accentuate the 2.5D.
• The tile floor could possibly be an extrusion as well, but not as tall as the "L".
• I think this logo will ultimately need to support very small display - i.e. plain and clean without the split tiles.

Martin to me seems more like a tile server - hence the gridded tile.

MapLibre Tile seems to me like the format of an individual tile.

Anyways, this is my take, something that is extremely simple and can be shrunk.

I don't think extrusions have much to do with MapLibre TIle?

The improved support for 3D coordinates is not something that is supported by MLT right now. The main innovations are a column-oriented layout and lightweight encodings, which allow for smaller tiles and improved decoding performance.

MapLibre Tile pertains more to MapLibre than it does to Martin.

If anything the abbreviation used in the logo should be MLT. But I don't like the idea of putting letters in the logo. It does not match the style of our current (square) logo.

Remove the bottom tile from the logo above and you have a MapLibre logo... maybe a deeper blue and the bottom of the "L" a touch thicker. 😎

I'm a designer at Kalisio. We're looking at this map solution for future integration and came across this logo ticket.

We'd love to contribute to the project before even starting. Here is a simple concept proposal. I'm open to any feedback or iterations to fit the project's guidelines.

Thanks @Solenn-Albiol! I like the first two... I wonder if we can even combine those two, rotating the base appropriately, but keeping it as multiple layers, possibly even increasing the base to three layers?
