How do I tell what Maputnik's is doing or did? Logs, progress loading, errors, etc

I had a planet map loaded for the first time and was editing it, but came back an hour later and using the same source and style, it displays nothing but the background. I've tried reloading many times. How can I know what's happening?

Maputnik is very fast, it's not working in the background in most cases.
If you configured something wrong you might get an empty map.
Try console logging to see if there's a network error or something.
Style issues are reported at the bottom of the map IIRC.
