How do I connect USB MIDI keyboard to Pico 2?

I didn't do any tests with a direct connection yet. You can connect both devices to a computer and use something like hairless MIDI which can forward MIDI messages from a MIDI port to a serial interface.

Thanks for the answer. My project idea is to make a synthesizer with USB port for MIDI input and a 3.5mm jack for audio output. So I ordered Pico 2 and PCM5102A for the project. Will try to make it to work myself, but if you have any ideas or suggestions, I'd be happy to hear it from you.

I used a USB breakout board until now with the ESP32. I just made some PCBs to have a small and a bigger MIDI DIN to UART adapter which might be handy too.
Let's keep in touch to find a solution to get USB host working. I would be happy to find an example just for the USB MIDI host functionality. The integration into the projects wouldn't be a big deal.

I tried it out today. It worked only with one of my devices. I tried three different devices. The two devices which didn't work were tested with the USB breakout some time ago with the ESP32. I don't know why this project does not recognize the USB devices. I tried the USB native only. Would be nice to keep the PIO free for other tasks. Thank you @copych for sharing the link.

@marcel-licence Have you tried to troubleshoot the problem? There is a message from repo owner in one of the issues I found: rppicomidi/usb_midi_host#18 (comment)

@piliugin-anton not yet. I don't know yet if the USB device was not recognized or if there is a problem with the power supply. When I find some more time I could try a better circuit to provide a stable power supply.
