Element-Call Support

I am a complete noob in the Matrix space and am trying to see if this is a viable option for a small business.

I love the concept of being able to have persistent call channels but this appears this requires element-call at this moment in time.

I am not entirely sure if this is something I can add myself via appservices or if this needs to be baked directly into the server itself.

I appreciate any additional clarification on this!
