5.1.0: Log download button does nothing

User reports that QGC 5.0.8 downloads logs from PX4 1.17 without issue, but in QGC 5.1.0 clicks on the download button in the log download view are ignored. Reverting to 5.0.8 works. Reported on Kubuntu 24.04 AppImage.

Hopefully the screen recordings of attempting log file download with 5.0.8 and 5.1.0 uploaded in a useful manner. Note that in addition to not downloading the log file, only one file shows time/date information on 5.1.0 while 5.0.8 shows time/date for all log files.

I'm wondering if there is a general file picker dialog problem on your OS. Can you go to plan and try to open a plan file? See if the file picker shows up there.

Also after you click Download, go to Settings / App Log Viewer to see if there are any errors displayed in there

This is the result from Settings / App Log Viewer after attempting to download a log file. This certainly points towards the problem, but it isn't clear to me why 5.0.8 works and 5.1.0 does not. ...or where the dependency is expected to come from.

This is from clicking on "Open" on the Plan page. Other than the dialog showing in dark mode in 5.1 and light in 5.0, it looks quite similar. However, they both show a problem. The current path at the top indicates that it is in the Missions directory while the selection context below it is one directory higher. I've always seen this with 5.0, most often when selecting a directory to save log files to. The inconsistency between the two causes QGC to crash if I directly select (in the download log case) the Logs directory and press "Choose". If I use the top line to select the next directory up before selecting "Logs" it works fine. As the error previously posted seems to point to a dependency error rather than a data error, at first glance this seems unconnected.

@j3kestrel The fixes for the folder dialog and the Download button doing nothing have been merged to master and are available in the latest daily builds:

• QGroundControl-x86_64.AppImage
• QGroundControl-aarch64.AppImage

Please download the one matching your machine and verify that clicking Download now brings up a working folder picker and the logs actually download.

For the remaining date/time problem ("Date Unknown" / wrong dates on the log entries) I need some logging from your setup to see what the vehicle is actually reporting:

1. Start the new daily build.
2. Go to Application Settings → App Log Viewer and click the Categories button.
3. Enable these two categories:
   • AnalyzeView.OnboardLogController
   • Vehicle.FTPManager
4. Connect the vehicle and open Analyze Tools → Onboard Logs so the log list refreshes.
5. Go back to App Log Viewer, click Save to save the log output, and paste the contents (or attach the file) here.

That output will show the raw log entries coming from the vehicle so I can see where the dates are going wrong. Thanks!

That daily build is able to download log files. The same other issues remain.

Do you want to keep the discussion in this issue or create a new one (or new ones) for the date/time and file browser path issues? To be clear, the date/time is a regression from 5.0.8 and the path issue exists in 5.0.8.
