Favourites search auto resets when hiding keyboard

Describe the bug

When searching for certain keyword in the Favourites section, the mobile keyboard will stay opened and will hide the pagination. Even when keyboard is floating the pagination is still hidden. Then when hiding the keyboard, the keyword field clears and resets the search.

Steps To Reproduce

1. Go to 'Favourite Galleries'
2. Type in any keyword in the search bar
3. Click on search
4. Try to scroll to the bottom (and you should see the pagination is hidden, floating keyboard also the same issue)
5. When closing the keyboard, the search resets.

Expected behavior

When click on search, the keyboard should auto hide until the keyword field is interacted with again.
And the keyword field value should not reset when the keyboard is hidden.

How are you closing the keyboard? By pressing back or by pressing the close button of the keyboard?

This is apparently a known bug of the used SearchView when used in a Toolbar. One would need to rewrite the screens to use the new material searchview or do it like the main view and start the search activity. Of course if it is done this way, there wouldn't be any live preview of the search. In the meantime the keyboard can be hidden with the downwards arrow:

They all will reset the search result always

Weird since the downwards arrow doesn't reset the search for me. Are you using the default Keyboard GBoard or a different one?

Hmm for details
My Samsung a35 phone initially has Samsung keyboard
But I then later downloaded GBoard from Google Play and using it since

Ok yeah, in that case we are back to the initial problem. So the search view will need to be replaced.
