Last weekend I was in the Marconi Memorial contest (CW). Exchange is a serial number. I did not find a plugin for this contest, so I took the "IARU FIELDDAY R1 DARC CW" plugin which also uses serial numbers. I used rigctld for my TenTec Orion and winkeyer_server for the NANOkeyer. Not1MM was configured to use cwdaemon on port 6789. Here are some quirks I found:
On startup the program would set the bandwidth of the Orion to 2400 Hz. Pretty useless if you ask me... ;-)
I wanted to change some of the macros, so I went to File -> Edit Macros, which opened the standard text editor. I had to restart Not1MM for the new Macro to be read. It would be nice if they would be read after closing the editor
During the contest I ran into an issue when a station asked me to repeat my exchange. I was using ESM in S&P mode. So after entering the copied callsign in the callsign field and hitting , the program would send my call. Then the SPACE bar would move the cursor to the RcvNR field and I entered the received number and hit . Then my exchange would be sent and the QSO would be logged and all entries would be cleared. Then the station would send "NR?", he wanted me to repeat my exchange. I then hit F3 and the program would send 599TTT, so it did not know what the exchange was.
I don't really know how N1MM behaves at this point, but I found it odd that I could not repeat my exchange. Maybe I missed something?
After finishing the contest I created a cabrillo file, which had a bunch of errors. There were at least 7 QSO's with a wrong QSO line. File is attached.
When reaching QSO numbers 10, 20, 30, 40, etcetera the program would behave strange when sending my serial. Even though for example QSO number 9 was sent as 5nntt9, QSO number 10 would be sent as 5nn010, so with the zero's not abbreviated. At some point it would even send 599, so with the nine's not abbreviated! I need to investigate further if this is reproducible.
All in all I was happy with the program, I enjoyed it! I intend to use it next weekend during the IARU HF World Championship. I already found the IARU_HF plugin. Keep up the good work!
