No album covers

I don't see album covers / album art on my Forerunner 265.

I use Nextcloud music (ampache) and the album art is visible there, it's included in its metadata (also visible on MacOS).

Any reason this might be?

Does your watch support album art? Not all watches do.
Does Nextcloud music with Ampache API provide the album art to other apps?

I am not sure if albumart existing in the metadata is working on watches. SubMusic implements the API methods that provide an image file to the watch separate from the file itself.

Yes it does! It's the forerunner 265 and for podcasts (through another app) it does display album art..

Could you test the following url-type in your browser (fill in your own server domain and maybe vary the id to check if it works):

Doing that gives: {"message":"CORS requires basic auth"}.

However, reaching my ampache server through an Android app (Power Ampache 2) and the ampache API, all album covers are fully visible without issues.

And apparently ampache is giving album covers to the client at 380 pixels max, is that alright? See here: https://github.com/owncloud/music/wiki/Admin-settings

SubMusic retrieves them with 100px, so that should be fine. The CORS requires basic auth does not sound like a typical error message. Do you have some special CORS settings enabled or a proxy in front of your server?

Would you be willing to share some temporary account on your server through the 'Contact Developer' option on Connect IQ > SubMusic app page? This way I could debug against your server and see if there is anything wrong with either SubMusic or some particular server setting. Thanks in advance!

Did a lot of debugging myself, and turned out the CORS error disappeared in an icognito window - maybe it interfered with my current logged in Nextcloud session.

now did return album art for the podcast just fine.

Same for songs:

Also returns a 380x380 jpeg in the browser.

I can see in my Nextcloud logs that the GET requests submusic makes seem to be working:

So I am quite at loss at what could be going wrong? Aren't the images saved to the watche's cache correctly or something?

Thanks for sharing the account and debug info! Could you share an example music file as well (either through mail or Nextcloud test account). Then I'll be able to test the response directly in the simulator and maybe compare with a known working example. Thanks!

I was able to test against your device and test files in simulator. The simulator does not seem to show album art for your device. This typically means the device also does not support it. However, you said other music apps do show album art when playing music. Could you share a screenshot of the watch playing music/podcasts with Album Art? I am curious, since it would be nice if it were possible to support artworks anyways, even though default behaviour does not support it.
