[Clarification] About actual zero-hop state? #11057

Description

@mesb1

Hi
I have found article from 2025:
https://meshtastic.org/blog/zero-cost-hops-favorite-routers/

Can someone confirm this logic is still the same for the 2.7.26 stable firmware?

And i would like to know if this will save our hops and routing for this case:
We have some specific issues, our town is a bit clustered with nodes scopes, so sometimes we are out of hops.
We have high tower in the middle of the city with 2 nodes in a client_base mode interconnected via udp and favouried using directional anthennas for the different riversides, and now one of the scopes includes also high placed node in a client mode.
I was thinking with switching them all into router_late and putting them all into favourites of each other.
Hightower1 fav Hightower2
Hightower2 fav Hightower1 and Highnode1
Highnode1 fav Hightower2 (and all of the users nearby)
