The official serial monitor is convenient, but has a couple of basic features missing that some other webserial monitors have:
- Automatic reconnect - would help with capturing that critical first few packets
- Some kind of automatic PII redaction - it could filter e.g. nodenames & numbers & coordinates automatically, so the log can be downloaded and shared safely.
- Some kind of automatic filtering and "basic problem ID" - there are common problems that can be diagnosed over serial monitor, like region unset, missing pubkeys, etc. that could be IDed automatically
- Debug build filtering - if the firmware had a specific "testflight" mode, additional logging could be added so that alphanauts could test features that can only be tested on a particular mesh, or as part of a wider trial.
Kthxbye.
