Technical roadmap & milestones for DAOstar infrastructure (2023)

Milestone 2

• Website stuff
• docs
• walkthrough guides
• indexing (DAODAO, Aragon, KALI, etc.)
• optimized login (e.g. including tooltips) for registration flow

Milestone 3: raw adoption, to facilitate data discovery + customer discovery (done by end of Q2)

• Deep Indexing (e.g. crawling actual member data and providing historical access to large providers or requestors), need more upgrades to the data
• Source additional requirements from DeepDAO, Messari, Etherscan
• Backend upgrades to support initial pitch to DeepDAO
• Additional support & docs for additional frameworks
• integrate the POC of the regulatory API into daostar.org
• Test, extend, and iterate the flow based on actual customer feedback + discovery
• IssuerURI integration (e.g. bringing on Hats, incorporating more of this into the management / frontend interface)

Hiring needs

• Frontend dev to replace Tucker
• Backend scoping => hire dOrg
• No need for protocol architecture reviewer from dOrg
• First round of adoption kick on DAOstar regulatory interop (identify a good conference)

Milestone 4: building adoption momentum + cross-chain adoption + organizational infrastructure for continued DAOstar operation + initial POC of data product & accompanying initial business model (done by end of Q3)

• Cross-chain support (?)
• Tax API (!!!)

Hiring needs

• Frontend dev to replace Tucker
• Backend scoping => hire dOrg
• No need for protocol architecture reviewer from dOrg

Milestone 5: production dashboards (done by end of Q4)

• Focus on regulatory adoption, trial the tax API
• maybe DAOstar DAO setup / spin out of Metagov

Long-term vision

• Josh: scalable business model via tax + regulatory interface, cultural interface for DAOs and digital governance more broadly, guardian of values and stories (i.e. a significant community engagement strategy on top of the business model), and potentially DAO ecosystem grants for development (this depends on capitalization!)
• Isaac: self-regulatory, higher standard, SOC-2 for DAOs (voluntary compliance standards)
• Z: data products, ability to impose incentives to actually move the ecosystem toward better governance

In lieu of a better place of putting this, I'll write it down here (maybe it'll go into the website later on). @amanwithwings and I are talking about the mission of DAOstar, and roughly I would describe it as this:

1. Build technical standards for the DAO ecosystem
2. Build, organize, and fund public goods for the DAO ecosystem
3. Set and secure the long-term vision and leadership for the DAO ecosystem, i.e. someone needs to be thinking what DAOs will be doing 10 years down the line
