Description
Description of the new feature / enhancement
1. Option on General Settings to Group (or not Group) all context menu items
As the number of items grows, it would be good if we could have the option to keep all of the PowerToys menu items together in one PowerToys menu item on the Windows 11 and on the legacy Windows 10) right-click menu - maybe with separate options for both or just one option.
Then it would become easier to add new functions to be available from the main Windows 11 context menu without overloading this (from what I understand, part of the reason it was changed was to reduce such overload).
2. More options for where the context menu items are displayed
To provide users with control over which parts of the context menu structure the individual tools are displayed, and so that tools that are used regularly can be only the Windows 11 menu, whilst those used less frequently can be on the legacy menu, EACH item that can have a context menu should ideally have the following options [re-ordered from original post]:
- Windows 11 menu only, which would then not have it on the legacy or the extended menus
- Legacy (Show More Options) menu only which have it on both the legacy and extended menu
- Both which is effectively the same as the current "default and extended" option being used
- Extended Only mode which is as per the current "extended only" option being used
Scenario when this would be used?
User wants to keep new Windows 11 menu just focussed on most used features and have lesser used features in the "Show More Options" menu.
User wants the Show More Options menu to only show those items (other than system commands) that are not available on the main Windows 11 menu.
User wants to group all PowerToys items together on the menu, so that the menu length does not grow too much and helps future proof the tool as more tools become available, can be used to avoid context menu overload :-)
