Microsoft PowerToys version
0.96.1
Installation method
Microsoft Store, PowerToys auto-update
Area(s) with issue?
General
Steps to reproduce
When attempting to update from PowerToys 0.96.1 to 0.97.1, I get an error message saying that it cannot find the .msi for 0.95.1, despite me being on 0.96.1. (I will get a screenshot, just allow me a moment to reboot)
When I reboot PowerToys after the failed install, the auto-update says I'm up to date. (1) I tried again after rebooting my computer and the behavior is the same.
I figured I should just uninstall the app & reinstall fresh, but it's giving me a similar error. This time I had the wherewithal to take a screenshot. (2)
While digging deeper, I stumbled on a few "Package was not found" errors. For example, when trying to enable Command Palette. (3)
✔️ Expected Behavior
System should update to PowerToys v0.97.1 from within the Settings interface.
❌ Actual Behavior
Update results in errors finding the previous package installer. After the failed update and rebooting the application, the system states PowerToys is up to date.
