PowerToys Run using discrete graphics to run

✔️ Expected result

I shouldn't see powerlauncher.exe using the discrete GPU

I see powerlauncher.exe as using the discrete GPU

I have seen this occurring since the 0.31.1 update. PowerToys Run never used the discrete GPU previously. Presumably, it used the integrated GPU. I am using a laptop with a 7th gen Intel Core i7 chip. It has both integrated graphics and discrete graphics.

PowerToys doesn't explicitly use the GPU, it's the system that decides when/how to process the UI using the GPU.

@enricogior why would the system suddenly decide to use the discrete gpu from this version when it didn't before? Even on an idle system with no load, it is using the discrete gpu. This never happened before 0.31.1.

we haven't changed one line of code that can cause that. I can answer for PowerToys not for the system or for the driver.

Even though I set it to use embedded graphics mandatory

There is also this color picker ui running on GPU, even though all I use powertoys for is just to remap some keys

This is still happening, would be helpful, if someone could provide a way to turn this off.

As ASUS explained to me this happens because the second screen output happens from NVidia memory and because of that software detects discrete GPU occupation.
What I suppose is possible to do is to capture an Event Log event for discrete GPU detouching, kill the processes, wait for 30-45 seconds, and run them again...
Maybe there exists some solution to pin an app to the APU but the Windows setting does not work
