proposed UX Improvements to calendar

Hello, I am a UX designer and need to use a calendar component in my work. Users need to select a custom date range and I don't that as an option in the current Fluent control guidance. I audited several date range pickers in the travel industry and there are some common patterns that I don't see in our control:

• Selecting a date opens a two month calendar view
• clicking on a date in the calendar starts the range
• clicking on a second date ends the range and closes the calendar
• the date range is shown in the selection box

Is there any way to follow this pattern with the current fluent component?
