Migrating from ReactXP

Hello everybody,
Back in 2019, I wrote a ReactXP app to run on Android and iOS.
Then ReactXP was no longer maintained.

Recently, my former happy customer called me to do some work on the app. I told him about the challenges tied to old versions of technology and tooling to do that. We decided that it may be a good idea to move to React Native Windows, as Microsoft suggests.

I have seen this issue here.

If some one has to do that in the past, I would be more than happy to collect informations here.

Maybe some more context would help? What platforms are you targeting? Are you migrating an old app or writing a new one? Hard to make a recommendation without knowing more.

I'm still targeting Android & iOS at first, but it could be fun to be able to say later that it will work on Windows or Mac.
This is about migrating the old app.
By the way, it was using a native module (whose skeleton had been generated by react-native-djini) to move data from JS to C++. So I guess I will have to rewrite it as a Turbo Module, but this is another story.

What were you using ReactXP for in your initial scenario? My understanding that's more of a web framework. If you're trying to use React Native to build a web site, react-native-web is the best answer. I've seen teams who were using ReactXP for a React web site (or native web host app, like in a web view) then migrate to React Native, but as part of that they're going full into the native part and not ReactXP anymore.

But yes, if you're writing a turbo module for your native integration, we have documentation on that here (as far as the Windows part; Android/iOS/other have their own native integration docs).

My understanding at the time is that it was an attempt to unify React & React Native to target web and native platforms. I chose ReactXP because I've always worked with MS technologies.
Again my primary goal was to target iOS and Android. But if they recommend to move to react-native-windows, I suspect that this is the right choice for me because I'll never target the web.
