Metric Collation and Accuracy

Hello,

I took a look at https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/vcpkg/about/privacy
and I was wondering if there was a builtin way to collate/collect the metrics ourselves.

For instance, we're interested in internally tracking compile/handle times for individual dependencies, etc

Elapsed time to handle ffmpeg:arm64-ios-release: 1 min
...
Elapsed time to handle openimageio:arm64-ios-release: 1.1 min
...
Total install time: 7.5 min

What's the "right" way to do this? Parsing the log doesn't seem like the right way to go.

Hi,

You can see what metrics are collected with --printmetrics. It is likely that what we collect won't be very useful to you because we take steps to anonymize the data, e.g. by SHAing the package and feature names so we can't recover names people might want to keep secret. You might consider submitting a PR to github.com/microsoft/vcpkg-tool which implements the type of report you want.
