SQL Server Agent Support

Now that ADS is slated for retirement, the official migration docs for ADS mention that the alternative to the ADS SQL Server Agent extension is to use SSMS.

This makes macOS and Linux users sad.

Since ADS already provides this functionality, support should be added to this VS Code extension.

Right, it's not like there's even a SSMS build with ARM support to use on Parallels.

No support for basic stuff like run with actual execution plan, manage db, search for table, restore db. This along with dropping support for Azure edge on arm / apple silicon in docker is seriously disappointing, just as Microsoft were clawing back some level of developer relations respect they go and make some pretty short sighted decisions.

While that is true and it's what I normally do, it's a weak solution for those of us on Mac/Linux workstations. Having to create and log into a Windows Virtual Desktop for basic management tasks is not optimal. (It so annoys me that I can manage 95% of my estate from my Linux PC except when I need to work on Active Directory or SQL Server!)

ADS isn't currently a valid solution either as the Admin Pack which provides SQL Agent support is full of bugs!
Jobs randomly show loading errors.
Steps don't always display properly
Schedules can't be managed.
etc.

A functioning extension would be ideal when ADS is retired.

I use Linux at home but for work I use ADS on windows. I would prefer that ADS functionality were in VSCode so that I don't have to install two similar products. Unfortunately, ADS was never fully functional. so I have little hope that extensions in VS code will improve. This obviously signals the end of serious mssql database development outside of SSMS. MS SQL plugins from MS were never fully functional in vscode nor ADS.
