Facebook downloads are missing the date

Is there a way to save the date information into the photo when downloading from Facebook? When viewing the EXIF data for downloaded photos, I noticed that the embedded file creation date seems to be accurate, but the actual image dates are all blank.

Is there a way to get the post date or file creation date into the image date fields?

Not directly, but it should be possible to use exiv2 or similar with an exec postprocessor to update a photo's EXIF data.
