Hot Cue Descriptions imported from rekordbox display as Chinese characters instead

Bug Description

When syncing tracks with hot cues and their respective comments from rekordbox 6.8.5 to a USB drive for MIXXX 2.5.0 to read them from, instead of the original English hot cue comments from rekordbox, only Chinese characters are displayed in MIXXX.

Does anyone have an idea what could cause this? Maybe something to do with ASCII/UTF-16?

Also, the same issue occurs with MIXXX 5.6.0 alpha, beta and on Linux.

The hotcue descriptions come from the ANLZ files. Can you upload those instead? What label do you expect that hotcue to have instead?

In the example song from the screenshot, Hotcue 2 comment is supposed to say 'Hook 1' and Hotcue 3 comment 'Hook 2'.

Thank you for the anlz files. Unfortunately as far as I can easily tell, they don't contain any comment at all. In fact, there are only three plain hotcues (incapable of having a comment attached to them) and one memory cue (also only of the plain kind).

Can you confirm this while loading the same files in rekordbox again (or ideally some external player)?

This is what the hotcue comments look like in RB.
I'll gladly try out if the comments are displayed correctly in an external player, which player would you recommend for that?

Any player that you know that can handle these tags. I'm not an export on the pioneer ecosystem so as long as its a player that you know will display these tags, it would be fine.

Potentially even just another rekordbox installation would work (one that doesn't contain the track from the stick in the DB, so we know any info it has must come from the USB rather than its internal database).

Interestingly enough in VirtualDJ it only reads 1 of 2 tags - and mixes the 2 of them up in addition to that. Is that useful in any way?
If not I'll try to install another DJ software or RB instance.

Well, that means that the cue info is somehow still ending up on the stick. Do you know whether the hotcue descriptions can have non-ascii characters (such as emojis) in them? Can you prepare a small export again and then send me everything except the actual music file?

That would be nice, yes. At least it would be good to know if the anomaly is exclusive to VDJ or replicated in other software/environments too.

RB doesn't seem to be able to render emojis in hotcue comments :(

Will update as soon as I've found another DJ software that can also read RB hotcue comments or managed to install a seperate RB instance :D

thanks for the files, these just look like the last ones you posted unfortunately. Can you prepare another track and add some more data to it? Ideally add some more cues and add them in notable positions (the very end, the very beginning, etc). Also make some of the cue points and some of them loops. Then most importantly, give them notable names (for example long strings of the same character like "AAAAAAAAAA" since those bit patterns are easy to spot)
