While using Garbro to extract .ks files from a Kirikiri2-based VN, I encountered one file with corrupted text (appeared to be Chinese but garbled). After 3 days of trial and error, I found a way to restore the text properly. Here's the method that worked: 1. Export the .ks file as Unicode from Garbro. 2. Open the file in VSCode. 3. Reopen the file using encoding Big5-HK-SCS. 4. (Important!) Press Ctrl+Z once to undo — this may bring back the original structure. 5. Reopen again using GB18030 encoding. 6. Voila — readable Chinese text is restored! Note: - The file turned out to be an unrelated scenario file or possibly a test script.
