I'm not aware that we made any changes in that area. I'll ask a few people around, but no there's no intent to replace the Mac Desktop version. |

To add some context here, this change is made as an initial step to test and assess whether we might eventually be able to push the iPad app to the Mac App Store. However, to echo what @lmarceau said, this is absolutely not a replacement for the native Mac Desktop version of Firefox. The idea is simply that both apps could potentially coexist on the same device. Since we are still in the early assessment phase, you might want to hold off on adopting this as a release strategy for your fork until we know more. cc @isabelrios |

Thanks for the replies. I'll not assume anything going forward so will just use it for its local testing niceties. |

I see in the 149.x branch that we can now run natively on the Mac via "Designed for iPad". Just curious as to why this was enabled?
Its handy for running debug builds as you don't have to suffer the limitations of the simulator, but I'm assuming there isn't a plan to replace the real Mac Desktop version of Firefox with this version??
For our forked app, there could be a use case for releasing such a version to our customers, but I don't want to start down that route if Mozilla don't consider it anything but a debugging/testing aid.
