Homebridge 2.0 introduces Matter support, described in more detail here:

Individual plugins will need to be updated to support Matter, and updating Homebridge Flume to support Matter will require considerable effort.
I am not planning to make the necessary changes right now, but if Matter support would be useful to you, please comment on this ticket and describe your use case. If there is enough demand, I will try to find the time.
