The VibeCoding-a-Website Guide

A straightforward explanation of how to build a professional website without writing a single line of code.

What Is VibeCoding?

You tell an AI what your business does and what you want your website to look like. It builds a real, professional website for you. Then it tests it, optimizes it, and puts it online. You never write code. You never drag and drop. You just have a conversation.

Here's what changes:

Before VibeCoding: You need to learn HTML and CSS, or pay someone $3,000 to build it for you, or use a website builder that charges $30 a month forever and locks you into their system.

After VibeCoding: You have a 20-minute conversation with Claude about your business. That afternoon, your site is live. You own the files completely. If you want to move it somewhere else later, you can.

The difference is huge. A website that used to be a months-long project or a big financial commitment is now something you can do over lunch.

How Does It Actually Work?

VibeCoding works in six straightforward steps. Here's what happens at each stage.

Step 1: You Answer Questions About Your Business

Claude asks you things like a brand consultant would. What does your business do? Who are your customers? What's the main thing you want people to do when they visit? Do you want a blog, a contact form, a photo gallery? You answer in plain English—no special knowledge required.

Step 2: AI Builds Your Website

Claude takes your answers and creates a complete website. It's real, functional code—the same kind a professional developer would write. You get a working site built on modern web technology.

Step 3: AI Runs Quality Checks

This is where VibeCoding is different from other builders. Nineteen AI specialists review your site automatically:

  • A QA tester makes sure every page works and looks right
  • A security auditor checks for vulnerabilities
  • An SEO expert optimizes so Google can find you
  • A performance specialist makes sure it loads fast
  • An accessibility expert ensures people with disabilities can use it
  • Other specialists check code quality, responsive design, and more

If something isn't right, they flag it and Claude fixes it automatically.

Step 4: You Review and Make Changes

You see the website and you can ask for changes just by talking. "I want the hero image bigger" or "Can you add a testimonials section?" or "That blue doesn't match my brand." You don't fill out forms or navigate menus. You just say what you want, and Claude updates it.

Step 5: AI Puts Your Site Online

Your website goes live on the internet with a real web address. You can share that URL with customers, put it in your email signature, everything. The hosting is free (no monthly bills), and your site will be fast no matter where your visitors are in the world.

Step 6: Any Time You Want to Change Something, You Just Tell Claude

Want to update your hours? Add a new service? Change the colors? You tell Claude, and it's done. No backend access codes to remember. No confusing interfaces. Just conversation.

The 5 Questions Everyone Asks

"How much does this cost?"

This is the best part. The tools are free. Claude has both free and paid plans, so you can start without spending anything. GitHub (where your files live) is free. Vercel (the company that hosts your site) is free for personal and small business websites.

If you want a custom domain name like "yourbusiness.com," that costs about $12 a year from any domain registrar. That's it.

Compare this to other options: typical website builders charge $300 to $600 a year, and you never actually own your site. VibeCoding is either free or up to $12 a year, and you own everything.

"How long does it take?"

Your first website takes about 1 to 2 hours from start to launch, including the time to set up your GitHub and Vercel accounts (which is just a few clicks).

Once you've done it once, you know the process. A brand new website takes 30 to 45 minutes.

Updates are even faster. You tell Claude what to change, and it's live in minutes.

"What if something breaks?"

VibeCoding was built specifically to prevent this. Nineteen different AI specialists check your site automatically before it goes live. A QA tester looks at every page. A security auditor verifies you're not vulnerable to attacks. An SEO expert makes sure Google will rank you. If something does go wrong, you tell Claude "something's broken" and it diagnoses and fixes it.

You also own the code, so if you ever need a human developer to help, they can look at it just like any other website.

"Can I switch to something else later?"

Yes, and this is important. Your website is made of standard web files—HTML, CSS, JavaScript. These are the same technologies any web developer uses. Any hosting company can host it. Any developer can work on it. You're never locked in.

Compare this to Squarespace or Wix, where if you leave, you have to rebuild your entire site from scratch. With VibeCoding, you can move your site anywhere, or keep it exactly as is. It's yours.

"Do I need to know how to code?"

No. That's the entire point of VibeCoding. You need to know what your business does, who your customers are, and what you want your website to say. You don't need any technical knowledge. Claude handles everything else.

What You'll Need Before Starting

Here's the full list of what you need to gather before you start:

  • A computer (Mac, Windows, or Linux all work)
  • An internet connection
  • About 2 hours for your first time
  • A free GitHub account (think of it as a digital safe where your website's files live)
  • A free Vercel account (the company that hosts your website and makes it fast worldwide)
  • Claude (the AI that does the building, available as a desktop app or through a web browser)

All of these accounts are free and take just a few minutes to create. By the time you're ready to start, you'll have everything in place.

What VibeCoding Is NOT

It helps to be clear about what VibeCoding doesn't do:

It's not a drag-and-drop builder. You're not clicking and dragging boxes around a canvas. You're having a conversation. Some people love this because it's more natural. Some prefer visual builders. Both are valid—this one just happens to be conversational.

It's not instant. There's a conversation process, and the AI needs time to build and test your site. It's fast (hours, not weeks), but it's not immediate.

It's not magic. The AI is very good, but it's not perfect. You'll review everything and approve changes. You're in control the whole time.

It's not for giant e-commerce sites with thousands of products. VibeCoding is designed for small business websites, professional portfolios, nonprofits, and service-based businesses. If you need to sell 10,000 products with complex inventory management, you'll need a different solution.

It doesn't write your content for you. You need to know what you want to say about your business. Claude can help refine it, but you're providing the core information.

Real Examples

Here are three real scenarios where VibeCoding made a difference:

A management consultant needed a professional web presence to attract corporate clients. She was too busy to learn website builders, and hiring someone was expensive. She spent 30 minutes describing her services and ideal clients. Within a few hours, she had a polished site with a blog, case studies section, and contact form. Within a week, she'd had three inquiries from the site.

A yoga studio wanted to show class schedules, instructor bios, and photos of the studio. The owner had no technical skills and was tired of managing their Facebook page. They used VibeCoding to build a real website with a schedule that automatically updates. Students can now book directly from the site instead of calling.

A nonprofit needed a donation page and event calendar but had almost no budget. With VibeCoding, they built a complete site for free (except the $12 domain name). They can update event listings by telling Claude, and donors can contribute directly from the site.

In each case, the business owner did zero technical work. They just described what they needed, and the website appeared.

Ready to Start?

Here's all you need to do to get going:

Open Claude and say: "I want to build a website with VibeCoding."

That's it. The getting-started skill takes over from there. It will walk you through everything step by step, answering questions as they come up, and building your site with you.

You don't need to memorize anything. You don't need to learn special terminology. You just have a conversation and end up with a professional website.

Welcome to a different way of building for the web.
