Discrepancy between MyExpenses calendar and external calendar used for templates

I have two transfer templates:

One to transfer $100 from my Checking to my Savings on the last day of each month. This matches and works exactly as expected.

However, the second—to transfer $300 from my Savings to my Checking on the last day of every 3rd month—does not match and does not work. I suspect the latter may be because of the former.

EDIT: Just as a side note...how does "every fifth Tuesday" always equate to "the last day of every month"? I mean, it must as the app seems to do its job and completes the transfer, but... I don't know... It seems odd.

(Note: I do know the newest version is 4.0.7. But I'm not sure this issue was listed in the 4.0.7's changelog (it might be #1928(?) but I'm not certain. And with my knowledge of Android coding (nonexistent), it wouldn't be possible for me to test this until April 2027. If it is the same thing, though, I apologize.)

• I suppose you have set up the first one with My Expenses support for monthly events on the last day of the month and have set up the second one as Custom recurrence. A custom recurrence is entirely dependent on the capacity of the calendar app you use to set it up. Does Fossify allow to explicitly configure the event as "last day of month"? If the recurrence that you configure in Fossify is not even correctly displayed in Fossify, there is nothing My Expenses could change in this respect. You might need to configure the event to run on the 28th of every third month to make sure it runs on all months, not only on months with 31 days.
• I have seen a report recently that Fossify did not pick up an event from the default local calendar configured by My Expenses, and have recommended Etar, and got the feedback that Etar was working without problem. This might not be related to your problem though.

As for how to create this type of recurrence that a calendar app is not able to configure, this might be achievable, if MyExpenses would allow to add ical rules manually (#453), but it would need to be tested if a rrule describing this requirement is processed correctly be Android's calendar provider.

I think you're right. I do believe the second template was a custom one.

It seems to. I created a regular calendar event (i.e. not part of the MyExpenses calendar) in Fossify and it gave me the option of repeating on the last day of the month every 3 months in as a custom time frame. And it seems to display it fine in the calendar afterward:

Interesting, I expect My Expenses to process calendar events exactly as the calendar app displays them, because they both get the information from the same source, Android's Calendar provider.
I figured out that in order to make Fossify pick up events from My Expenses you need to enable CalDav sync and select My Expenses planner. After I did that, for me it seems to work, essentially. With the exception of the description of the event: It erroneously says "on day 31" instead of "last day of the month" as you reported, but if I click on it to open the calendar view, it correctly shows instances every 3rd last day of the month

@PrivacyFriendlyMuffins Could you report exactly what you mean when you say the 3-months example does not match and does not work. Is it only that the label says 31st instead of last day, and the instances are selected correctly as it does for me?
As for "the every fifth Tuesday" displayed by Fossify in the first example, it seems like a Fossify bug to me. Both Etar and Google Calendar, describe the event recurrence as "monthly".

I apologize greatly for the extremely late reply. Truth be told, I don't remember. I've long since uninstalled Fossify Calendar and switched to Etar Calendar for this purpose. And I haven't had an issue since, which leads me to agree with your suspicion that it is/was a Fossify bug.
