End of Cell Marker

In zed-industries/zed#44516, @auriium2 suggested a new way to delineate cells as you type by writing what is the "end" of the cell with # $$. This is way more natural as you can write code, "close" the cell and run that cell. With the # %% you are writing the "next" cell and have to back track a bit to run it.

I did see some documentation in here about # - but I feel like that runs into conflicts with commented lists. Has there been an exploration of an approach to denoting end of cells?

And interesting suggestion @auriium2, it's nice indeed to tell explicitly that you want to execute the cell at the location of the # $$ marker. I am wondering how you would mark markdown cell in this approach?

Now re what is currently supported in Jupytext,

• in the percent format (= the # %% markers), there is no notion of an end of cell marker
• in the light format, a format with fewer markers when possible, we do start cells with # + and terminate them with # - (other pairs of markers are possible).

I recommend using the percent format over the light one because it is way more standard (it's supported by multiple editors, notably VS Code). Of course it would be feasible to create another format, but getting it adopted more broadly sounds challenging to me - especially given that the percent format is already widely accepted. What do you think?
