I assume we can probably also add some empty lines, so that the two generated HTMLs can align well side by side?

This sounds like a line-by-line differ, based on whitespace. It's not really the intention of this gem, but it probably wouldn't be hard to implement a tokenizer that simply splits based on newline.

Eventually I decided to re-implement this repo using TypeScript, and add the functionality we need.
