Gnome still gets slower over time

Hi, this is a re-opening of #290. Over time, gnome get slower and slower at placing windows with this extension enabled. I think #291 helped (maybe it slows down the lag buildup?), but perf has regressed since then.

No other extensions enabled except this one.

Thanks for the report. This is hard to debug remotely, as I don't experience this myself. Maybe because I frequently restart the system. If you want to help maybe you can try to push the code through an LLM and ask it if it finds any issues.
