Can't install ReACT on my laptop

Hi,

I have a MacBook Pro (macOS Monterey version 12.5.1). I did install Sundials from GitHub (I tried to install it with HomeBrew but it was a nightmare). I should match all of the other requirements (GCC, gsl, automake). However, when running "python setup.py install" I get this error message.

I don't know where I made a mistake, perhaps shall I install Sundials with Homebrew? Does the Apple C++ compiler work? Shall I install another C++ compiler?

Hi Matteo,

We're encountering the same issue with Maria Tsedrik's (one of ReACT's developers) laptop which also runs the newest Mac OS. There are incompatibility issues between the new Apple compiler and the valid version of sundials needed to run ReACT.

Unfortunately updating ReACT to use the new version of sundials would take some time since they have changed a bunch of the functions between ver 4 and ver 6.

Maria is currently trying to find a work around. We will keep you updated.

So it seems Maria's error was unrelated, although she is also running with the same MacOSx.

Regarding your first issue with omp.h, this was solved here: nebblu/ReACT#7

Regarding the second issue, I am not sure. What happens once you've fixed Error 1 ?

Did you double check the path in the pyreact/Makefile "L/Users/matteograsso/sundials/instdir/lib64" is correct? It looks like ReACT is trying to link with another version of sundials you have installed in your user/local/lib directory.

There will be other issues with the new Mac architecture which we've encountered, so for the time being it might be best to just work with the Docker, until we resolve these.
