Running on ARM system such a Pi utilising GPIO

I have a MAD idea that I want to build a 1:2 scale pinball cabinet and have already got a lot of the hardware put together, I'm struggling with the software though.

Would it be possible to have this run on something like a RPi and use it's GPIO for things like DMD, switch and lamp matrix etc? I have a Beaglebone Black which isn't exactly fast but think it may cope with this? Depending on the overheads and what framework may be needed.

That might work, you can adapt the ui route (ws) as datasource, then you should be able to drive your led's, switches and dmd

Sorry I don't get notifications on github and didn't know anyone had replied! Picking this up again, can wpc-emu be run headless from the terminal? Trying "node index.js /roms/addam_l7.bin" doesn't seem to do anything.

And yes, PPUC looks great, I kinda want to do this with wpc-emu though and should require pretty minimal hardware for what I have planned. I'm currently targeting a couple of rp2040s that I have on hand as well as led drivers etc.

@retrorepair you can run epc-emu headless, see https://github.com/neophob/wpc-emu/blob/main/example.js.

What you want to look at is https://github.com/neophob/wpc-emu/blob/main/lib/emulator.js - here you can modify the state of the emulator, get the feedback of the emulator state and "run" the emulator for a defined amount of time. so in your code you want to use the emulator.js and then attach your code to that.

Brilliant thank you I'll have a dig. I'm new to java and almost every aspect of this but I'm also determined and learn quickly :)

I'll muddle my way through the docs, not actually managed to get it running locally at all yet, fileserver just shows a few .js files and roms, no index. I'll figure it out :)
