How to use snapshots in nbshell?

I like using nbshell to quickly test snippets of code while writing custom scripts. It seems that I'm unable to make snapshots in nbshell. I'm guessing this is because there's no logged in user, so Netbox wouldn't know to whom to attribute the change. Is there a way to make this work?

Example:

dev = Device.objects.get(id=31512)
dev.snapshot()
dev.status = 'decommissioning'
dev.full_clean()
dev.save()
