Proposed functionality

Some users would like to define whether or not changes to their custom objects are added to the changelog

Use case

Some users have built plugins in which they deliberately do not log changes to the changelog

They would like to transition these plugins to using custom objects while maintaining the same behaviour - An example use case is a user who has created a model to capture object lineage/provenance in which they scan their whole fleet of servers each evening and update a model with last seen, and status - they exclude these from the changelog as they have 20k+ servers and that would create an prohibitively large amount of changelog entries

This user would be fine with these changes not being branchable.

If done I think this would need to be a global flag and not per custom object type. The issue is if you have some CO with changelog and other without then linking between them would cause problems.

Im one of the users who would find this useful,

we have a custom plugin which are effectivly a "metadata" plugin for use against devices and vms. it contains information about when a device was last seen/ audited by specific tooling.

that way we can look at a device and see when it was last seen / scanned by our inventory tools or security tools etc.

without this updating a custom field on a device or virtual machine every night (or few hours in some cases) would create insane amounts of changelog entrys daily.

being able to define custom objects without changelogs would allow us to no longer maintain an internal plugin for this usecase
