In short: We can find a contact in milliseconds in the Contact app, but the contact's emails are sometimes almost impossible to find with a lot of email traffic and large mailboxes and many subfolders.
Describe the solution you'd like
It would be extremely helpful if we could search for a contact who is stored in the contacts app and display ALL emails from this contact across all mailboxes and subfolders.
I would like to find all emails by searching via the desired contact. In other words, if the contact I am looking for is in the “from” or “to” address line (to, cc, or bcc (if possible)). Theoretically, this could also be integrated into the Contact App so that I can access all of the contact's emails via a link in the contact app, for example.
Why would that be so incredibly helpful?
I have about 7 mailboxes for my business and numerous folders and subfolders to keep things organized. Some contacts write to me at different email addresses and these are stored in different mailboxes and folders and nested subfolders. Although I have a good organization, it can often happen that you can hardly find emails from certain contacts.
Describe alternatives you've considered
- The normal mail search works rather poorly for me and I can't get it set to simply search all emails from a contact, no matter which mailbox or folder it is stored in, as long as it is stored in a mailbox in the Nextcloud Mail app.
- For example. I select "All Mailboxes" and in the search parameters i search in the "from" field for my desired contact. Click on search. No results. It only works (sometimes), if i get alreaedy the correct folder or subfolder selected and make a search. But there is the crux, I don't know the correct folder or subfolder (or mailbox sometimes).
- The nextcloud side wide search bar show me also no email-results, if I search for a contact.
Additional context
- If not possible for all mailboxes at once, then at least for all folders and subfolders of a mailbox.
- It is already possible in Gmail, just with a different workflow than I have described:
