Swipe left/right to switch between edit and preview mode

A convenient way to switch easily between preview and edit would be left and right swipes. It's not always easy to reach the google in the upper corner to switch modes, especially on larger screens.
A good example of this is Simplenote:

To be honest, i think this consumes too much space and takes away too much focus. I think the solution wit the toggle is just fine, especially the state is remembered.

I also think the common use cases are writing or reading (e.g. write shopping list at home, read it at the market).

Keep in mind, this app should be focused about writing, not formatting. Formatting is just an additional benefit, that the used library provides.

There’s 2 separate things (at least from design, not sure if it’s possible with implementation):

1. Swiping to change between the views (which is suggested)
2. Having this Edit/Preview header (which is visible in the video)

I think that @jakejoh mainly wants the swiping, and not the header. And @stefan-niedermann you mainly don’t want the header. ;)

So if it’s possible to only have the swiping to change, I would say that would be a nice addition. The icon in the header changes from eye to pencil already, and it should do the same when you switch via swiping. Also, when you tap the icon to switch, it could do a quick swipe motion in the relevant direction to hint at that you can also do it via swiping.
