I see there's an issue with the "Failed to execute 'removeChild' on 'Node'" error when selecting the Mpox clade reference. I'd handle this by inspecting the component that manages DOM node updates to ensure proper lifecycle handling and prevent stale references. Can have a PR up in 3 days. I've tackled similar Node-related bugs in React/Next.js apps before and can resolve this efficiently.

@celyfoudalnsp Is this happening every time? I cannot reproduce the issue.

Can you provide exact steps: what you need to click, what data to use in order to see the error? (you could also record a screen capture if you have a minute). If you can provide this information, I'll investigate and fix it. Without this information I cannot help.

In the meantime you could try to:

• reload the page bypassing cache (Ctrl+F5)
• use fresh incognito/private window without extensions
• if you have browser extensions which modify page content (e.g. adblocker, dark mode, google translate), temporarily disable them for clades.nextstrain.org or entirely.

I did not see the error message well. It seems like it's another message now?

I now suspect that your computer runs out of memory. Nextclade runs computation on your laptop, and it requires a lot of RAM, especially for large viruses like mpox, so if you can, it's better to try to close all those browser tabs and/or try to run again in a fresh empty browser window, without browser extensions.

If this does not work for you, perhaps you could try Nextclade CLI (command-line version), which is more memory efficient and can also be ran on another computer remotely, e.g. via SSH.

Unfortunately it's hard to detect when browser runs out of memory, so Nextclade Web can sometimes crash with strange errors like that.

@celyfoudalnsp additionally you could try to go to "Settings" (on top panel) -> "Number of CPU threads" -> Set to 1. This will use single thread for calculations, and may reduce memory consumption.
